Whooo! This is going to be bloody hot today ladies and gents!!

But since my job is not weatherman, i’ll get on with the business that occupies me, that is informing youse all with the latest Rat Records news and beyond.

Well let’s start with “beyond”, then : some of you might be acquainted or may have heard of Kristin Hersh, who was part of the Throwing Muses, aband that, between other things, wrote one of my favourite song of the 90’s (it’s called “Hate my way”, if you wanna check it).
Well Kristin has been really active and realeased a plethora of solo albums the past 10 years or so as well as keeping on touring with the Muses and another band called 50ft wave.

Now to the point : IF YOU ARE FED UP WITH THE WAY THAT DIGITAL MUSIC IS SOLD TO YOU IN GENERAL, THEN YOU OUGHT TO BUY THIS : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crooked-Kristin-Hersh/dp/0007371861/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1278669602&sr=1-1

Hopefully, if this turns out to be a real underground success, then the labels and artists will start to realise that people are desperate for a physical object for their cash, as well as obviously wanting to have the music on their music players..
I also had the pleasant surprise to find out that Kristin is also about to release this : :http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rat-Girl-Memoir-Kristin-Hersh/dp/0143117394/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1278669602&sr=1-2
so how appropriate then that i write about her here..
Well, come on, take a dip and change history. It’s a great record by a great artist, that’s all i have to say!

Now to our Rat Records business then : we have top notch stock to come out in the new in rack, and it’s a real mixture of old and not so old at all : you will find rare vinyl in near mint condition (as new, basically) from the likes of : Bjork, Led Zeppelin, The Fiery Furnaces, Will Oldham, LFO, TomWaits, PJ HArvey, DJ Shadow, Ian Brown The Postal Services, The Black Crowes, Hidden Cameras, The Upsetters, sonic Youth, Big Black, William Burroughs, Winston Groovy, Ozric Tentacles, The Propositions, The Velvet Underground, The Fall, King Curtis and a lot more ranging from £2.00 to £20.00 for the most precious pieces.

At the moment the staurday mornings are a little bit quieter than usual, so if you were not up for our usual handbag fight to reach the rack first, this might be your moment!

Alright then, I’llleave it at this and I hope to see some of youse over the week!

Enjoy the sunshine!

Philippe-Rat Records.
