Hi everyone! This is Easter week end and I expect a lot of you will be away in search of the mythical british sunshine, but for those who are going to stay put in the “big smoke” and maybe plan to do a bit of record shopping, we’ll be opened Friday 10th, and Saturday 11th but CLOSED Monday 13th.

Last week when Tom (the owner) came in town, he had virtually no time to spend here at the shop as he was busy on the road buying quality collections all over the place.

We have enough stock for easily 2 months so Ive just been more or less hand picking the new stock for this week….

a bit of Jazz here, top notch 90’s indie there, Reggae and Soul a plenty, more rare 4AD and Goth, Bboy and new school Hip Hop, Classic rock and Electro… Krautrock… soundtracks….sound library recordings, experimental noise obscure 7inches…
if it looked good or rare or bizarre, I picked it for this Saturday, so believe me if you make it down here, not only will you have more space to browse and less waiting time for the listening posts, you’re likely to put your hands on a nice little gem!

Let me drop you a few hints : a few Stereolab classics on 10inch, Boss Hog, Bikini Kill, Thinking Fellers, Free Kitten, The fall, Guided by voices, Spiritualized, Cure, Velvet Underground, hendrix, Bonzo dog Band, Captain Beefheart ( an original of “clear spot” is in there), some class Chess records, Sun records, Mastercuts and other funky breaks comps.

Prince and Marvin’s lp’s, Lee perry, Jah Woosh, rare Bjork 12’s, Grand master flash originals 1st press, Stone Throw and Def Jam lp’s, and some super rare Indie and Punk 7’s from the likes of The Ejected, Trumans water, Ceramic bobs, Greazy walter and the razors, Can, Bettie Davis and the balconettes and other household names of another dimension…

Believe me some records here you’re never likely to encounter ever again!

To finish I’d like to pay my respect to a brilliant guy and DJ who unfortunately has left us on Sunday and will be missed by all those who knew him and the underground Electronic scene in London and beyond :

Rest in peace BEN BRACKET.

Here’s a link to listen to radio one respected Mary Ann Hobs playing one of his remixes last night towards the end of the show:
BBC - Radio 1 - Mary Anne Hobbs

and another one to listen to the man’s equally respected dj skills :

All the best to all of you.
